Mechanical designers at RBC are actively involved in product design.This position is responsible for planning, creating and maintaining CAD designmodels and documents from simple to complex. Activities include problem analysis, design layout, calculations, standards compliance, hands-on prototype assembly, testing and troubleshooting. You will work collaboratively with a team of innovative colleagues that create products that impact lives every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce complete designs and drawings based upon verbal or written descriptions from development team members and clients
  • Sketch design concepts and develop solutions to design challenges
  • Complete and document component/assembly level tolerance analyses
  • Work with suppliers to ensure manufacturability of designs
  • Select, recommend and prepare preliminary designs
  • Provide guidance to detailed drafting standard for compliance with GD&T and ASME Y14.5M
  • Apply basic principles of physics and material science to designs

Required Background:

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field
  • 5 or more years of continuous experience using Pro-E and Solidworks designing and detailing components and top level assemblies
  • Design experience in various manufacturing processes, including injection molded plastic, folded sheet metal, machine part, mechanism, casting, stamping, extrusions and prototyping
  • Understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5M Standard
  • Ability to take a creative or analytical approach to problem solving
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain CAD proficiency and master current and new CAD systems
  • Effectively use multiple application packages where necessary including advanced level commands
  • Able to execute assignments requiring independent evaluation and judgment
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced environment
