Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience OR HS/GED Degree

  • Must possess:
  • A valid driver?s license.
  • Ability to coordinate and conduct timber sale accounting duties.
  • Knowledge of timber sale accounting and contracting procedures.
  • Knowledge of forestry land management theories, concepts, and practices. Skill in communication and interpersonal relations.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, Timber Information Manager (TIM), Automated Timber Sale Accounting (ATSA), Financial Management Modernization Initiative (FMMI)
Duties:

As an individual considered an expert in the field of Timber Sales Accounting, trains and mentors Forest Service employees performing duties covering the entire array Timber Sales Accounting activities.

  • Mentors, train, and provide advice to Timber Sale Resource staff and Contracting Officer in the process of daily input with the timber accounting systems. Advices timber staff to ensure that all business management features of the timber sale and stewardship contracts along with forest products permits are adhered to. Provides training to auditing all financial aspects compliant to contract closure.    45%
  • Mentors and trains Resource Specialist to become proficient with the use of Automated Timber Sale Account (ATSA), Timber Information Management (TIM), and Financial Management Modernization Initiative (FMMI) programs. Provides guidance and advice on how to maintain and support a high quality standard with scale tickets entered into Scale Expansion program that require issuing ticket books and accountability.   40%
  • Reviews timber sale statements of accounts, prepared by the Resource Specialist, to ensure sufficiency and accuracy; issue bill for collection and provide advice on financial activities to make improvements.    10%
  • Provides guidance and advice in the review and assessment of timber sale contracts, cruises and pre-sale data prior to advertisement of contracts. Mentor and train in the process bid opening and award of contract.    5%

Other:
  • Overnight travel: Up to 1 or 2 days a month.
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Valid driver?s license and review of Job Hazard Analysis at the unit for the position
  • Required Safety Gear: Hard hat and safety vest
  • Safety Gear Use: Hard hat will be required as per the JHA, but will be required while out of the vehicle and in the woods working. Safety vest will be required as per the JHA, but at a minimum while working in road right-of-ways of county, state and federal highways.
